ABOUT (SRS version):

Our Purpose: The purpose of our dance company is to continue to strengthen and develop your social dance skills through the process of learning choreography, thus preparing you to perform in front of a live audience.

Our Mission: To cause a breakthrough in personal confidence through the experience of performing.

What We Value: The commitment and the courage that it takes to perform in front of a live audience.

Our Vision: To create a thriving dance community of skilled and confident leaders and followers.

The expectation of members in the Santa Rosa Salsa Intermediate Performing Team, is that you already have a strong dance foundation. This enables our dancers to focus on developing their performing skills and intermediate technique in body movement and styling. In this group there is less attention to developing technique and a heavier focus on choreography, as performing is a requirement on this team.

MARTHA RICO

Spring 2012 Intermediate Performing Team

Martha was born in Mexico city, but grew up in the gorgeous town of Healdsburg, CA. She has always loved dancing, but it wasn't until she joined Santa Rosa Salsa in November 2011 that she discovered the love and passion she now has for Salsa dance. While not an experienced dancer, the thrill that Martha gets from dancing is unique. She credits her exceptional instructors, Irene and Jesus, who really invest in her passion for the dance. One of the special things that Martha loves about Santa Rosa Salsa is how it makes you feel like you've become a part of a family… "All of the instructors genuinely care not only about your learning but your growth as a dancer. Most importantly, they treat every individual equally and do not leave anybody behind. I have to say that in the short period of time that I've been here, not only have I gained practical and professional knowledge about Salsa, but I have also gained long lasting friendships."

“I honestly didn’t expect to like performing but I thought it would be the best way to really improve my dancing skills. I was surprised that I had so much fun on stage!” ~ Milinda Maeso, Spring 2012

"When I first began I was so nervous about dancing with strangers. I now know that strangers are just friends you haven't met yet. I am so happy I went to that first class and I can't imagine life without dancing." ~ Kathy Thompson, Spring 2012
